The 2023 Gala Dinner held on 24th February 2023 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, was a remarkable event graced by Hon. Kassimu Majaliwa Kassim, the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania. The aim of the Gala Dinner was to bring together a wide range of stakeholders in the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), including TVET institutions, employers, industries, employers' associations, policymakers, development partners, NGOs, and FBOs.
The event served multiple purposes aimed at fostering collaboration and strengthening the TVET ecosystem in Tanzania. Firstly, it provided a platform for networking and dialogue among the participants, facilitating the exchange of ideas, experiences, and best practices. This interaction allowed stakeholders from diverse sectors to connect, build relationships, and explore partnership and collaboration opportunities to support skills development.
Furthermore, the Gala Dinner highlighted the importance of recognizing and appreciating outstanding employers who have made significant contributions to skills development in Tanzania. The event featured an awarding moment to honor employers who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and support toward enhancing TVET programs. This recognition not only showcased their achievements but also served as an inspiration for others to actively engage in skills development initiatives.
The event witnessed the participation of 317 attendees from various sectors, including TVET institutions, public and private employers, government ministries and departments, private sector representatives, non-governmental organizations, students, universities, and commercial banks (CRDB Plc, NMB Plc, and Tanzania Commercial Bank). This diverse gathering showcased the broad spectrum of stakeholders invested in advancing TVET and skills development in the country.
